Raine got scouted!

You are NOT going to believe what happened today! Raine got scouted by a AA coach!!

Raine had a hockey game after school and this coach who has been watching Raine's team from the beginning of this season came up to me right after the game saying he wanted Raine to be on his team for next season (he said that Raine doesn't have to tryout!).

Shocked and overwhelming. Raine is super excited(of course!) but we really have to sit down and talk about this. It's a HUGE commitment for us and it's very competitive. We have a month to think about...

今日信じられないことが起こった！！！放課後にホッケーの試合があり行ってきた。試合後ある男の人が私に話しかけにきた。「誰だこのおじさん？」と思いながら話していると、なんと、なんと、AA（ダブルA）のコーチだった！ちなみにホッケーのレベルは下からhouse、select、A、AA、AAAとなる。このコーチ言わく来シーズンレインを「Defense」のポジションとしてチームに入ってほしい、と。今シーズンが始まってからこのコーチはずっとレインのチームを見てきたらしく、それでのアプローチだった。

もしろんレインは大喜び！でも現実的に考えると、週に4回ホッケーになり、練習や試合、トーナメントで春夏冬休みなんてとってられない。しかもレジストのお金が数千ドルするとか？ホッケーは高いとわかっていたけども、ここまでするとは...

3月14日にアリーナに行ってまたコーチと直接話す事になったので、それまでじっくりと考えなければ。

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Guess what we did today. Went to see "Paul Blart: Mall Cop"! Raine wanted to see this movie so badly and went with his friend Tristin and his family.

Funny movie but I would never watch it again...

バレンタインデーに映画を見に行ってきた。しかもMall Copと言うくだらないコメディー映画。レインがずーーーっとこの映画見たい！見たい！と騒いでたのでホッケーの友達とその家族とみんなで行ってきた。映画館に着くと、なんと子供の日の上野動物園のよう！かなりの人でチケット買うのにも長いこと並ばされた。でも私達が見た映画はガラッガラッ。そう言えば「13日の金曜日」が昨日から上映されてるんだった。みんなそれを見にきたらしい。映画はまあまあ面白かったが、私はDVDになっても見る事はもうないだろう...レインは大満足♥だったらしいが。

Got together with the team for dinner at Boston Pizza tonight! Their playoffs are about to begin and the coach wanted to spend some time with everyone before their first game!

レインのチームディナーが今日Boston Pizzaであり行ってきた。これはコーチのアイディアで11人全員参加となった！うるさいながも楽しく食事をすまし、デザートがきた。なんと、合成着色料たっぷりの青いゼリー！みんな大喜び！

Perry and Jen left for their trip today! So hard to say goodbye to both of them...

Their first stop is Thailand and they are planning to stay there for 3 months. After that they are going to New Zealand, Africa, Taiwan, and so many other places! How exciting!

Can't wait to see you next year and hear all about your adventure! Love you guys!

ペリーとジェンが今日1年間の世界旅行に出発した！空港で飛行機に乗る前に二人から電話があり、レインは泣きながら「さよなら」をしていた。

最初の目的地はタイ。そこに3ヶ月はいるらしい。その後はニュージーランド、アフリカ、台湾などなどまた予定は未定。出発する前に二人はブログを作ってそこに旅行のアップデートをするらしい。二人が今どこで何してるか遠くのカナダから見れるから楽しみ！来年無事にカナダに戻ってくるのを楽しみに待っているね！

Amesbury/Bert Robinson Tournament 09 [Game 4]

Can't believe we came to the semi finals but who can play 3 hockey games in a day? Now I'm thinking those who went home in the afternoon and napped are the smart ones! We went bowling and went to the nearby community centre to play some basketball...what were we thinking!

とうとうセミファイナル！でも今日3試合目（プロでも1日にこんなにたくさんホッケーしないのに）。チームメイトのほとんどは家でゆっくり休んだらしい。その方が利口だったかも？私達はボーリングに行き、実はその後近くのコミニティーセンターでバスケをしてしまった。あらら...

We underestimated this team and lost! Didn't make the finals...but we had an awesome weekend together! That's what matters!

試合前に子供達は「前に戦ったチームで余裕勝ちしたとこだ！」なーんて言っていたけどその矢先、試合はボロ負けで終わってしまった。ハアー（悲）。残念ながらファイナルには行けないけど、すごく楽しい週末だったね！それだけでもよかったよかった！

Bowling

We had about 5 hours to kill before the semi final game. We looked after 4 kids, Raine, Marco, Marco's brother Lucio and Jackson (I still don't know how this happened!). They wanted to see the movie "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" but the schedule didn't work out so decided to go bowling instead. Can you believe that these kids got up at 5:30 in the morning today and played hockey for 2 hours! Can't wait to go home tonight!

セミファイナルの試合まで5時間くらい。他の家族は一度家に帰ってお昼寝したりとゆっくりしているのに、なぜダニエルと私は4人の子供の面倒を見る事になったんだ？？？映画でも連れて行って時間をつぶそうと思ったけども見たい映画の上映時間があわず、ボーリングをしに行く事に。みんな5時半に起きて2時間ホッケーしたのにこ〜んなに元気。なんででしょう？私は今日夜家に帰るのが楽しみでしょうがない。

Treat from Coach Paul!

Coach Paul has been coaching kids hockey for the past 15 years. He is so great and the kids respect and love him! After the 3rd game he took the kids to DQ for some treats! "Thank you Coach Paul!"

この帽子かぶってる人がコーチ、Paul！子供のホッケーをコーチして15年経つらしい（全てボランティア）。ハローウィン、クリスマスの時はプレゼントを子供達一人一人に渡し、練習の後にピッザやドーナッツの差し入れをしたりと、とにかく子供に大人気なコーチ！今回もトーナメントでがんばってる子供達にアイスクリームをごちそうしたくて、チームメイト全員をデェイリークーンへ！子供達は食べながら笑顔で「Thank you Coach Paul!!!」と！

Amesbury/Bert Robinson Tournament 09 [Game 3]

Good thing that this arena was only 10 minutes away from the other one. Once we got there the kids had to put their skates on right away and they didn't have time for anything. It amazed me how much engergy the kids had!

The game started and again they won! That means we are going to the semi finals at 6:10PM...TODAY!? It'll be a long day...

次の試合まで1時間しかなかったが、試合会場が車で10分くらいと近かった。ハアー（汗）。とは言うものの、着いたら着いたで、スケート靴履かせて準備。2つ続けて試合する子供達より、すでに疲れてやられてるのは私達親？

試合前にコーチからのいつものトークがあり、いざ開始！すばらしいチームワークで見事、この試合も勝ってしまった！となると次はセミファイナル！えっ、セミファイナルは今日の6時10分？？？これまた今日はなが〜い一日だ！

Woke up at 5:30 this morning, had a quick breakfast and left for the 2nd game. SLEEPY...

今朝は5時半起き...眠い！朝ご飯食べて車でアリーナへ向かった。なが〜い一日になりそう...

We faced a team from Oakville. Our kids played hard and won this game too! Way to go guys! Now we have to pack our stuff and drive to another arena for the next game! Crazy!

相手チームはオークビルからのチーム。早朝の試合だったがレイン達はがんばってこの試合も勝つ事ができた！やったね！でも喜んでる時間はない...　次の試合が1時間後に始まるから、急いで荷物まとめて次のアリーナへ向かわないと！

Amesbury/Bert Robinson Tournament 09 [Game 1]

Another hockey tournament kicked off today! Guess what, it's Friday and the kids missed school today! They loved that!

レインの一つ上のリーグのトーナメントが今日から始まった！しかも金曜日、子供達はみんな学校休んで試合に参加！と言うか学校を休んだ事に大興奮！？

Yes, we won the game! Now we have to get ready for the next game which is...TOMORROW AT 7AM! Why does it have to be so early!

この試合はParkdaleの勝利！えーっと、次の試合は...？えっ！朝の7時？なーんでこんなに朝早いんだーーー！

Family Skate Night

Raine's school had their annual family skate night at Harbourfront. It's been pretty cold in Toronto but today is a perfect day for outdoor skating!

He invited his good friend from hockey, Tristin and his family! The kids skated for an hour and a half and we went straight to "Shoeless Joe's" for some wings!

レインの学校が今年もまたハーバーフロントのリンクを貸し切って「家族でスケート」のイベントを行った！レインはホッケーの仲良し友達、Tristinを誘って1時間半ほど一緒にスケートをすべり、その後に一緒にチキンウィングを食べに行った！やっぱり運動した後の食事は美味しいね！

Shinny with the parents! Raine tried goaltending for the first time! He was actually doing OK until Marco's shot! What a goal!

レインのチームが親と対抗して小さな試合をした。レインはゴールキーパーに挑戦した！なかなかの調子でやっていたが、マーコのこのゴールはさすがにセーブする事はできなかった。やっぱり顔にくると怖いよね！

Raine and Marco had their first sleepover together! They rented a vedio game and had so much fun! But more than anything they enjoyed skateboarding in the house!? Check out this video. The kids are pretty creative!

レインとお友達のマーコが初めてのお泊まりをした。ビデオ屋さんに行ってwiiのゲームを借りて遊んだりとともかく楽しいお泊まりだった。でもやっぱり一番のハイライトは何と言っても、家の中（！？）でスケートボードをした事みたい！子供ってクリエイティブだな〜とつくづく思った。

Came straight home after the game and we made it just before 12 midnight! PHEW! Perry and Jen got us party hats and we celebrated the New Year with...some chocolate fondue!?

ホッケーの試合の後、急いで家に戻ってきた。12時まであと10分！ペリーとジェンは、パーティーグッツを出して準備。そして年越しにはなくてはならない、、、チョコレートフォンデュ！？まーいっか。てな感じで2009年を無事迎えました！

Uncle Perry took Raine and Jen's cousin, Daniel to the bench just before the warm-up! Guess what, Raine got an autograph and a practice puck from Craig Conroy (wasn't Raine's favorite player before but now he is!)! Daniel got some autographs from a couple of players! Lucky!

ペリーがレインとダニエル（ジェンのいとこ）を選手の座るベンチのとこまで、ワームアップの前に連れて行ってくれた！そして、なんとレイン達は選手を間近で見て、触って、握手してもらって、一人の選手からサインと練習用で使ったパックをもらって来た！ダニエルも数人からサインをもらって二人とも大興奮！！！私も行けばよかったーーーーー！

The Best Christmas Ever!

Raine woke up this morning and went straight to the Christmas tree to see if Santa left any presents for him! There was a big pile (Santa was SO generous!)! Raine had fun unwrapping the gifts and loved them all (he got lots of gifts from Uncle Perry and Auntie Jen too!)! Now I'm thinking...how are we going to bring all this back to Toronto?

クリスマスの朝がやって来た！レインはいつもより早く目が覚め、クリスマスツリーまで走って行った。「サンタさん来てくれたかなー？」と思っていたら、すごい数のプレゼントが置いてあった！サンタさんだけではなく、ペリー、ジェン、ママとパパ、おじいちゃんとおばあちゃん、とプレゼントの山！何かなー？とワクワクしながら一つ一つプレゼントを開けていった。こんなにどうやって持って帰ったらいいんだろう？

Jen's nephew, Devon LOVES Batman and he got this jammies for Christmas! They played Batman and Robin all day!

Jen's Parents invited 20 people over for their Christmas dinner. They cooked the BIGGEST turkey I've never seen in my life!

ジェンの両親が20人ちかくクリスマスディナーに招待し、大きなターキーを作ってみんなで食べた。ダニエルの家族にこんなに食べるみほを見た事がない！と言われるほど私は食べていた！

Air hockey Tournament in the basement! Can't believe they are able to play like this right after dinner. I had a hard time just going down to the basement...

毎年ダニエルの実家、リジャイナにクリスマスとお正月は帰るけども、今年はペリーとジェンが、お正月後に1年間の世界旅行に出発する事になったので、旅行の前に会える最後のチャンスだったので、カルガリーにみんなが集まる事になった。

トロントからの飛行機がかなり遅れ、ペリーの家についたのが夜中？だった。家についてすぐに、ペリーとジェンがレインに一つ目のクリスマスプレゼントを渡した。何が入っているか全くわからないままレインはプレゼントを開けた。そして中に入っていたのは、、、

ちょっと待って！カルガリーでホッケーの試合って事は、レインの大、大、大好きなカルガリーフレームズが生で見れるって事？しかも試合は明日？もう寝て、早く明日にしよう！

Sorel Boots

Took me 10 years to finally realize how cold it gets in Canada...ha!ha!

I thought it was time for me to invest in a pair of WARM boots! Went shopping with Daniel and both of us ended up getting the same boots!

All I can say is these boots are UNBELIEVABLY warm! You just have to get used to walking in them because they are like duck feet!

カナダに10年住んでやっと気づいた事、カナダの冬は寒い！なんでこんなに時間かかったのかはわからないが、なぜか今年は「暖かいブーツ買おっ！」と思い、昨日友達の靴屋さんに行って来た。そこで発見したのが、この写真のブーツ！−40度まで平気らしい！結局一緒について来たダニエルまで色違いだが、同じブーツを購入した。

この靴で歩くのが、慣れるまでちょっと変な感じだが（アヒルの足みたい）、とにかく暖かい！！！今日のトロントは体感温度で−20度。マフラー、手袋、ダウンと身につけてたけど、体の一番暖かかった部分が足だった！本当に本当に買って良かった。

Winterfest

[Raine + Alexander]

The Island School hosted the second annual "Winterfest" today! We had a sing-a-long and performance followed by crafts and refreshments! 

Raine's music teacher, Ms. Maxwell asked Raine and his friend, Alexander if they could play some piece together. Since they had only a couple of days to practice together they picked "Oh, Come, Little Children" which was short but very Christmasy! Raine went to Alexander's house for a few rehearsals. They played well in front of the whole school and I think the kids all enjoyed it! 

今日レインの学校で、2回目の「ウィンターフェスティバル」があって行って来た。親と一緒に歌を歌ったり、ステンドガラスを作ったりと子供達とアクティビティーをして来た。

学校の音楽の先生が1週間ほど前に、レインとお友達のアレックス（4年生）にピアノとバイオリンで何か弾いてくれないかな？と聞いてきた。一緒に練習ができる日が限られていたので、クリスマスの曲で短いのを選び、2日間アレックスの家にリハーサルをしに行って来た。当日は二人とも緊張する事なく、上手にみんなの前で弾けました！演奏後、先生とお友達から大きな拍手をもらって、ご機嫌な二人でした！

Blake came to visit us from Edmonton!

Daniel's best friend, Blake came to visit us from Edmonton this weekend! They don't get to see each other very often so when they do they always have lots to catch up!

今週末はホッケーのトーナメントの他にダニエルの親友、Blakeが学会の為、エドモントンから来る事に！なんと運良く、家のすぐ近くのホテルに会社が部屋をとってくれたらしく、一緒にディナーを食べたりする事ができた。

普段はトロントとエドモントンなので、あまり会う事ができない二人。会えば必ず高校の時の懐かしい話でかなり盛り上がっている（リジャイナの冬は−40度。その中、二人はガソリンスタンドでバイトを一緒にしていたらしい）！

忙しい中、時間を作ってくれてレインの決勝戦を応援しに来てくれた！

[Day 3]

Can not believe we came to the final! This is it!! Everyone felt a little pressure! The team we played against was from Oakville and when I saw the kids I thought...

WHAT ARE THE PARENTS FEEDING THEIR KIDS!

They looked SO much bigger and also everyone on the team was a great skater! We played hard but it was obvious that the other team was more experienced. 

We weren't able to win the little Stanley Cut but we got the 2nd place! I can tell the kids had the best time together! It was a great experience for them and what a crazy weekend it was!

今日はいよいよ決勝戦！勝っても負けてもここまで来れた事が素晴らしい！コーチも子供達も気持ちは一つ、「優勝！」だ！

プレッシャーの中相手チームがオークビルから現れた。そしてとうとう試合開始！と思って見ていると、相手チームの子供達の大きさに驚かされた！レインのチームは小学校2、3年チーム。相手は2倍のサイズ、5年生くらいの大きさ？そしてどうみても、レイン達よりホッケー歴が長い。結果的にレイン達は負けてしまい、悔しがっていたけども、試合後ロッカーでみんな生き生きとした顔して、2位になった事に喜んでいた。あんなに上手な子達と試合ができて、良い経験だったと私は思う！

Our game was 5pm today and we played against a team from Vaughan. The arena was filled with lots of parents tonight! Our goalie, Clay made some amazing saves and again we won 5-1! The coach seemed very happy and ready for tomorrow! I hear there going to be a little Stanley Cup for the winning team! Can't wait!

今日のゲームはVaughanからのチームとの対戦で、5時から始まった。セミファイナルだからか、昨日よりアリーナがいっぱいのような？両チームの親の大観戦でゲーム開始！この試合は昨日ほど簡単ではなかったが、ゴールキーパーのおかげで、5対1で勝利をとげた！コーチはもちろん大満足！早速明日の決勝の準備をしていた！噂によると、勝ったチームはチビッコのスタンリーカップがもらえるとか？楽しみだー！

Hockey Tournament Kicks Off

Raine's hockey tournament kicked off today! Tonight was our first game and we played against a team from Oakville. The kids in the change room seemed to be pumped up big time (just not as much as the coach!)! 

待ちに待ったトーナメントが今日からスタート！第一試合はオークビル（ダウンタウントロントから車で西に30分くらいのとこ）との対決！

やっぱりトーナメントだからか、ロッカーの子供達の雰囲気がかなり違う！興奮気味？勝ちたい！という気持ちがロッカーにいるだけで伝わってくる！でもコーチの方がその気持ち大きかったかも、、、

[Day1: Raine is #66]

The first game was easier than what we expected, but still the kids were flying everywhere! We won 9-1! Raine scored 2 goals and Raine's friend, Marco got a hat trick and was the MVP of the game!

We have another game tomorrow. We gotta win this second game if we want to go to the finals! Go Wings!

この試合は思ったより簡単だったが、それでも子供達は氷の上を飛ぶようにすべって、9対1でレインのチームが勝った！レインは2つゴールを決め、友達のMarcoは3つ決めて、なんとMVPに！

明日は第二試合！これを勝たないと決勝戦には行けない。がんばらないとね！Go Wings！！！
