Uncle Perry took Raine and Jen's cousin, Daniel to the bench just before the warm-up! Guess what, Raine got an autograph and a practice puck from Craig Conroy (wasn't Raine's favorite player before but now he is!)! Daniel got some autographs from a couple of players! Lucky!

ペリーがレインとダニエル（ジェンのいとこ）を選手の座るベンチのとこまで、ワームアップの前に連れて行ってくれた！そして、なんとレイン達は選手を間近で見て、触って、握手してもらって、一人の選手からサインと練習用で使ったパックをもらって来た！ダニエルも数人からサインをもらって二人とも大興奮！！！私も行けばよかったーーーーー！

The Best Christmas Ever!

Raine woke up this morning and went straight to the Christmas tree to see if Santa left any presents for him! There was a big pile (Santa was SO generous!)! Raine had fun unwrapping the gifts and loved them all (he got lots of gifts from Uncle Perry and Auntie Jen too!)! Now I'm thinking...how are we going to bring all this back to Toronto?

クリスマスの朝がやって来た！レインはいつもより早く目が覚め、クリスマスツリーまで走って行った。「サンタさん来てくれたかなー？」と思っていたら、すごい数のプレゼントが置いてあった！サンタさんだけではなく、ペリー、ジェン、ママとパパ、おじいちゃんとおばあちゃん、とプレゼントの山！何かなー？とワクワクしながら一つ一つプレゼントを開けていった。こんなにどうやって持って帰ったらいいんだろう？

Jen's Parents invited 20 people over for their Christmas dinner. They cooked the BIGGEST turkey I've never seen in my life!

ジェンの両親が20人ちかくクリスマスディナーに招待し、大きなターキーを作ってみんなで食べた。ダニエルの家族にこんなに食べるみほを見た事がない！と言われるほど私は食べていた！

Air hockey Tournament in the basement! Can't believe they are able to play like this right after dinner. I had a hard time just going down to the basement...

毎年ダニエルの実家、リジャイナにクリスマスとお正月は帰るけども、今年はペリーとジェンが、お正月後に1年間の世界旅行に出発する事になったので、旅行の前に会える最後のチャンスだったので、カルガリーにみんなが集まる事になった。

トロントからの飛行機がかなり遅れ、ペリーの家についたのが夜中？だった。家についてすぐに、ペリーとジェンがレインに一つ目のクリスマスプレゼントを渡した。何が入っているか全くわからないままレインはプレゼントを開けた。そして中に入っていたのは、、、

7枚のホッケーのチケット！

ちょっと待って！カルガリーでホッケーの試合って事は、レインの大、大、大好きなカルガリーフレームズが生で見れるって事？しかも試合は明日？もう寝て、早く明日にしよう！

Sorel Boots

Took me 10 years to finally realize how cold it gets in Canada...ha!ha!

I thought it was time for me to invest in a pair of WARM boots! Went shopping with Daniel and both of us ended up getting the same boots!

All I can say is these boots are UNBELIEVABLY warm! You just have to get used to walking in them because they are like duck feet!

カナダに10年住んでやっと気づいた事、カナダの冬は寒い！なんでこんなに時間かかったのかはわからないが、なぜか今年は「暖かいブーツ買おっ！」と思い、昨日友達の靴屋さんに行って来た。そこで発見したのが、この写真のブーツ！−40度まで平気らしい！結局一緒について来たダニエルまで色違いだが、同じブーツを購入した。

この靴で歩くのが、慣れるまでちょっと変な感じだが（アヒルの足みたい）、とにかく暖かい！！！今日のトロントは体感温度で−20度。マフラー、手袋、ダウンと身につけてたけど、体の一番暖かかった部分が足だった！本当に本当に買って良かった。

Winterfest

[Raine + Alexander]

The Island School hosted the second annual "Winterfest" today! We had a sing-a-long and performance followed by crafts and refreshments! 

Raine's music teacher, Ms. Maxwell asked Raine and his friend, Alexander if they could play some piece together. Since they had only a couple of days to practice together they picked "Oh, Come, Little Children" which was short but very Christmasy! Raine went to Alexander's house for a few rehearsals. They played well in front of the whole school and I think the kids all enjoyed it! 

今日レインの学校で、2回目の「ウィンターフェスティバル」があって行って来た。親と一緒に歌を歌ったり、ステンドガラスを作ったりと子供達とアクティビティーをして来た。

学校の音楽の先生が1週間ほど前に、レインとお友達のアレックス（4年生）にピアノとバイオリンで何か弾いてくれないかな？と聞いてきた。一緒に練習ができる日が限られていたので、クリスマスの曲で短いのを選び、2日間アレックスの家にリハーサルをしに行って来た。当日は二人とも緊張する事なく、上手にみんなの前で弾けました！演奏後、先生とお友達から大きな拍手をもらって、ご機嫌な二人でした！

Blake came to visit us from Edmonton!

Daniel's best friend, Blake came to visit us from Edmonton this weekend! They don't get to see each other very often so when they do they always have lots to catch up!

今週末はホッケーのトーナメントの他にダニエルの親友、Blakeが学会の為、エドモントンから来る事に！なんと運良く、家のすぐ近くのホテルに会社が部屋をとってくれたらしく、一緒にディナーを食べたりする事ができた。

普段はトロントとエドモントンなので、あまり会う事ができない二人。会えば必ず高校の時の懐かしい話でかなり盛り上がっている（リジャイナの冬は−40度。その中、二人はガソリンスタンドでバイトを一緒にしていたらしい）！

忙しい中、時間を作ってくれてレインの決勝戦を応援しに来てくれた！

Can not believe we came to the final! This is it!! Everyone felt a little pressure! The team we played against was from Oakville and when I saw the kids I thought...

WHAT ARE THE PARENTS FEEDING THEIR KIDS!

They looked SO much bigger and also everyone on the team was a great skater! We played hard but it was obvious that the other team was more experienced. 

We weren't able to win the little Stanley Cut but we got the 2nd place! I can tell the kids had the best time together! It was a great experience for them and what a crazy weekend it was!

今日はいよいよ決勝戦！勝っても負けてもここまで来れた事が素晴らしい！コーチも子供達も気持ちは一つ、「優勝！」だ！

プレッシャーの中相手チームがオークビルから現れた。そしてとうとう試合開始！と思って見ていると、相手チームの子供達の大きさに驚かされた！レインのチームは小学校2、3年チーム。相手は2倍のサイズ、5年生くらいの大きさ？そしてどうみても、レイン達よりホッケー歴が長い。結果的にレイン達は負けてしまい、悔しがっていたけども、試合後ロッカーでみんな生き生きとした顔して、2位になった事に喜んでいた。あんなに上手な子達と試合ができて、良い経験だったと私は思う！

[Day 2: Raine got the MVP of the game!]

Our game was 5pm today and we played against a team from Vaughan. The arena was filled with lots of parents tonight! Our goalie, Clay made some amazing saves and again we won 5-1! The coach seemed very happy and ready for tomorrow! I hear there going to be a little Stanley Cup for the winning team! Can't wait!

今日のゲームはVaughanからのチームとの対戦で、5時から始まった。セミファイナルだからか、昨日よりアリーナがいっぱいのような？両チームの親の大観戦でゲーム開始！この試合は昨日ほど簡単ではなかったが、ゴールキーパーのおかげで、5対1で勝利をとげた！コーチはもちろん大満足！早速明日の決勝の準備をしていた！噂によると、勝ったチームはチビッコのスタンリーカップがもらえるとか？楽しみだー！

Hockey Tournament Kicks Off

Raine's hockey tournament kicked off today! Tonight was our first game and we played against a team from Oakville. The kids in the change room seemed to be pumped up big time (just not as much as the coach!)! 

待ちに待ったトーナメントが今日からスタート！第一試合はオークビル（ダウンタウントロントから車で西に30分くらいのとこ）との対決！

やっぱりトーナメントだからか、ロッカーの子供達の雰囲気がかなり違う！興奮気味？勝ちたい！という気持ちがロッカーにいるだけで伝わってくる！でもコーチの方がその気持ち大きかったかも、、、

[Day1: Raine is #66]

The first game was easier than what we expected, but still the kids were flying everywhere! We won 9-1! Raine scored 2 goals and Raine's friend, Marco got a hat trick and was the MVP of the game!

We have another game tomorrow. We gotta win this second game if we want to go to the finals! Go Wings!

この試合は思ったより簡単だったが、それでも子供達は氷の上を飛ぶようにすべって、9対1でレインのチームが勝った！レインは2つゴールを決め、友達のMarcoは3つ決めて、なんとMVPに！

明日は第二試合！これを勝たないと決勝戦には行けない。がんばらないとね！Go Wings！！！

Raine is the Captain of the team!!!

レインがキャプテンに選ばれ、ジャージの左上に大きく「C」がついた！！！キャプテンとしてこれからチームを引っ張って行かないといけないから、今まで以上にがんばらないとね！

CBC Kids

Raine had an audition for CBC Kids a couple of weeks ago. A few weeks later, Raine's agent called saying he got the part! 

He had to act with 2 puppets, Mr. Froog and Mighty Mama. The show is about having a good nutritious breakfast. It's going to air sometime in February next year. Can't wait!

何週間か前にレインは、CBC Kidsとういう子供のテレビ番組のオーディションに行ってきた。忘れたころにレインの事務所から電話があって、レインが役をもらえたと！

レインは二人の面白い人形（Mr. FroogとMighty Mamaというキャラクター）と一緒の撮影だった。番組内容は栄養のいい朝食を食べる？みたいな感じ。オンエアーは来年の2月くらいらしい。楽しみっ！

First Snowfall in Toronto!

Got our first snowfall last night and it's only November...

Raine was so excited this morning to put his snow pants and boots on! It actually snowed all night but by the time the kids came home from school most of it was gone. 

昨日の夜トロントで初雪が降った！まだ11月なのにーーー！！！って言うのが私の気持ち。

レインは朝起きて、窓の外を見ては大喜び！スノーパンツとブーツを履いて、今日はいつもよりも元気に学校へ行った。夜中じゅう雪が降って、結構つもったかな？と思っていたけども、子供達が帰って来る頃にはほとんど溶けてしまっていた。残念（？）それでも放課後、残ってる雪をかきあつめて雪合戦を子供達はしていた。

はあー。トロントのなが〜い、なが〜い冬が今年もまた始まってしまった、、、

Go Raine Go!!!

Aunt Betsy, Raine, Uncle Michael and Daniel

This weekend we had two 8 o'clock games. We got up at 6AM, picked up Aunt Betsy and Uncle Michael at 7:20AM and drove to the Arena!

Raine was playing defense for the past 2 months but from this week the coach asked him to be a centerman! Now he needs to forecheck, attack and score! He actually did well! I guess having 2 extra fans cheering for him worked!

On Saturday Raine scored 2 goals and his team won with the winning goal from his teammate, Marco in the last 40 seconds! It was one exciting game!

On Sunday we had another exciting game! The final score was 5-4. Raine's team lost but I could see everyone's effort! Raine scored on a breakaway which made the whole crowd jump up and scream!

Aunt Betsy and Uncle Michael had a good time and they said they would come back for Raine's playoffs next spring! Thank you so much for coming! It meant a lot to Raine! We are looking forward to seeing you guys again in spring!

今週末は朝８時の試合が2つもあった。我が家は朝6時起き！７時20分にホテルへおじさんとおばさんを迎えに行き、そのまま車でアリーナへ。

シーズンが始まってからずっと「Defense」をしていたレイン。今週からコーチが「Center」にレインのポジションを変えた。いつもはママとパパしかファンはいないのに、今週はそれにプラス2人！そのせいか、いつもより何倍もがんばったレインだった！

土曜日の試合は、レインが2つゴールを決めて、残り1分40秒で同点になり、最後の40秒でレインのチームメイトが逆転ゴールを決めて、なんと逆転勝ち！

日曜日は5−４でレイン達は負けてしまった。でも見に来ていた人達みんなが立ち上がって、拍手をするほどの素晴らしいゴールをレインが決めて、おじさんとおばさんはわざわざミシガンから来てよかった！と大喜び。チームワークがよくできていたいい試合だった！

おじさんとおばさんが帰る時、「今度は来年の春のPlayoffs（野球で言うと日本シリーズみたいなもの？）の時に応援にくるね！」って。本当にレインのホッケーだけのために来てくれてありがとう！

Visitors from Michigan!

Aunt Betsy and Uncle Michael came to visit us from Michigan this weekend! They came just to see Raine's hockey games! 

They've been to Toronto many times but since they had never been up the CN Tower before we decided to go up to see the City of Toronto (too bad the weather wasn't great...)!

ダニエルのおじさん（Michael）とおばさん（Betsy）が、ミシガンから2泊3日でトロントに遊びに来た！しかもレインのホッケーの試合を見るのが目的で来てくれた！

今まで何回もトロントには来ている二人だったけども、CNタワーには一度ものぼった事がないとの事。天気はあまり良くなかったけども、上に行ってトロントの街を眺める事にした！

Assistant Food Stylist

Worked as an assistant food stylist for the past 2 days. Food styling was something that I was always interested in! Enjoyed it very much but I have to say it is a lot more work for film than it is for photography!

ここ二日間「アシスタント•フード•スタイリスト」として仕事をした！自分で食べ物の写真は撮るけども、それを準備する立場で仕事はした事がなかったから、いい勉強になった。一言、映像のフードは写真のフードより何倍も大変！

Happy Halloween!

Perfect Halloween! Thank goodness for the warm weather! It was 17 degrees in the evening! As usual, we took a ferry over to the island for trick-or-treating! We stayed there for 2 hours! 

今年もまたハローウィーンがやってきた！ここ最近ずっと寒かったのに、ラッキーな事に今日はサイコーのお天気！夜でも17度くらいあったのでは？

5年前からハローウィーンは、トロントアイランドに行っている我が家。今年もレインの学校のお友達と待ち合わせして、キャンディーをもらいにフェリーに乗った！

島でも、たくさん学校のお友達に会って、あっという間の2時間が過ぎてしまった！

One of the best friends, Youssef invited us to his Halloween Party after trick-or-treating! 

島から戻って来たと思ったら、今度はレインの仲良しのお友達、ユーセフが招待してくれたハローウィーンパーティーへ！美味しい食べ物とレインの大好きなバンド、AC／DCの曲ばかりかかっていて、レインにとってサイコーの夜でした！

Had tryouts for the higher league! Raine did well and found out that he made it!

YES!!!

The kids had one practice and had their first game today! The only thing about this league is that we have to drive around the city for games. Luckily this one was on Sunday but games are normally during weekdays and arenas are not close. I guess the higher you get, the farther you have to drive...

The kids had a good game today! It was 5-1 and we won! Way to go, guys!

3週間にかけて、レインは一つ上のリーグのトライアウトをやってきた。本人はこのリーグに入りたい気持ちが大きく、かなりがんばっていたのが母親の私はよくわかった！最終日のトライアウトが終了し、1週間後になんと、なんと、レインがチームに選ばれた事がわかった！

やったーーーーー！！！

と大喜びのレイン（と私、親の私の方が興奮してたかも！）！

毎週金曜日、夜7時15分からチームの練習があり、ゲームは全てノースヨーク（トロントの北）。しかもほとんどのゲームがウィークデェイの夜6時から（泣）。地図を見ると、どのアリーナも家から高速にのって運転しないといけないとこ。他の親から話しを聞くと、レベルが上がるにつれて、試合の場所が遠くなると。ホテルに泊まってのゲームもあるらしい、、、それを考えると、今の状況はホテルに泊まらないだけいいのかな？

初ゲームはラッキーな事に今日、日曜日の夕方だった。チームの練習が一度だけだったわりには、チームワークがしっかりできていて、結果的に5対1で勝つことができた！みんな、よくがんばったね！

Didn't want to buy a whole bird just for three of us so we got some turkey legs and thighs and roasted with lots of veggies! Yummy! :)

七面鳥まるまる一匹は3人家族には大きすぎる、と思って「足」と「もも」肉を買ってきて、野菜たっぷり入れてオーブンで焼いてみた！うーん、なかなか美味しいディナーでした！！！

Raine is a defenseman!

Raine's team had their first practice! For the past 2 weeks the coach watched how everyone played during the games. He told the kids today which position each player would play.

Raine and his good friend, Evan are asked to play "Defense" together! A lot of responsibilities! The coach spent 30 minutes teaching both of them how to move and pass to each other! Raine is a DEFENSEMAN! Way to Go!!

レインは、今シーズン初のチーム練習があって行って来た。コーチはポジションを決めるために、ここ2週間でやった3つの試合をじっくり拝見。そして今日の練習で各プレーヤーにポジションを伝えた。

レインと仲良しのEvanは唯一の「Defense」に！相手チームからパックを盗んだり、ブロックしたりとかなりの責任ポジション！コーチは30分くらいじっくりレインとEvanに動き方、パスの仕方など徹底して教えていた！この成果が出せるか、次の試合が楽しみ！
