History Project - 3 Foot Long Pencil
Raine has been having HEAVY weeks with his auditions, school homework and projects! Lots of sleepless night...poor guy :( Raine says "Life SUCKS!". I hear you buddy! LOL!!
レインの学校の子たち、ここ2週間ほどオーディションがあるのに、先生はいつも通り宿題、テスト、プロジェクトの嵐、涙。毎日夜中24時すぎまでがんばるレイン！もう一息、がんばれ〜。

Earl Haig Audition
Raine had another audition today. For this school, he had to present variety of artwork. He spent his whole summer preparing his portfolio and hopefully it pays off! Waiting for an acceptance letter!!
今日は2校目のオーディション。この学校は昨日とは別に5つの違う作品をみせないといけなかった。レインは、ショートムービー2つ、写真、クリエイティブストーリー、スケッチブックにストーリーボードの5つ。この前の夏毎日がんばって作品作りをしたので、その効果が結果にあらわれるといいな。

ESA Audition
Raine had his audition today! For this school, he had to pitch his short film along with three corresponding images. He said he feels pretty good about his performance. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
今日は1校目のオーディションがあった。北米で一番難しいアートハイスクールで、アカデミックもオンタリオ州でトップ5には入る学校。ダメもとで（笑）レインも挑戦！オーディションにはショートフィルムのピッチとストーリーについての絵も一緒にプレゼンテーション。面接もグループプロジェクトも上手くいったらしく、あとは結果を待つだけ。
Raine's Pitch:
"The Expedition of the Dollar", is a stop-motion film about 12 year old, Amanda Kalidin. She is on vacation with her family at their coastal beach home along the southern USA.
It’s mid summer and hot. Amanda loves the beach. The hot sand and the sun’s heat dripping off her face. But she loves the ocean the most. The smell, the waves and especially how the water never seems to end. One day on the beach she finds an empty bottle. Excitedly, she reaches into her pocket and pulls out a shiny silver dollar. She puts it in the bottle and then into the ocean and watches the ocean take it away. She smiles in excitement as it travels further out. Her smile fades as the bottle disappears and she whispers, “Oh well, it’s only …”. End Scene.
The next shots follow the journey of the bottle traveling the ocean waters as it meets sea life, severe weather and angry fishermen.
Eventually the bottle washes up on shore with other ocean scrapes. It has arrived at a poor poverty stricken country where people struggle earning pennies to survive.
A young girl named Adia, who lives in the area walks every day looking for anything that will help her family survive. She loves going to shoreline to search the debris washed ashore. It is her happy place to escape her hard life. Searching the scraps and garbage she notices a shiny glare. She rushes over and finds the bottle. She immediately sees the dollar.
She hurries home and shows her family. The camera focuses on their expression as they stare into the bottle. Smiles, hope and excitement fill the room. Emotions that have been hidden for some time. Adia slowly moves closer to the bottle. A camera close up shot shows a sense of hope in her eyes. Leaning in she whispers “… a dollar”.
" Every dollar makes a difference."

BJJ Seminar with Professor Shawn Williams
Professor Shawn Williams is one of the most talented Jiu-Jitsu competitors in the world. He is well known and very well respected. There was a seminar at Openmat and Raine was excited to be part of it. It was tiring but he surely had a blast!
世界的に有名なブラジリア柔術師、Shawn Williamsがレインのジムでセミナーを行った。子供はレイン1人だけの参加だったけど、今までに見たこともない技を学んだりとーってもためになったらしい！

Backyard Rink
Raine went to his friend's house to play hockey. They have an awesome backyard rink! It was -15℃ today. The kids didn't feel cold and played for 4 hours straight. I couldn't do that!
マイナス15℃の中、4時間も友達の裏庭にある手作りリンクでホッケーしていた2人。子供って寒さ感じないのが不思議、、、親は家の中でおしゃべり（笑）
Now they are pooped!
終わった瞬間疲れすぎて言葉が出ない2人（笑）

Ice Storm...
Toronto has been hit by a sweeping ice storm that has left tons of people without power. Luckily it didn't affect us. Hope everyone stays safe and warm.
トロントに住んで15年になるけど、アイスストームは初めて。12月のこんな寒い時に停電になっている人が何千人もいるらしい。我が家はラッキーなことに被害なし。
