Raine's been having so much fun with Uncle Perry! Raine doesn't get to see him often so when he does it's so special and exciting!

Uncle Perry always takes Raine for shopping and buys anything he likes. This time Raine asked for brand new Rollerblades! Thanks Uncle Perry!!!

There is a huge pine cone tree in front of the house and Daniel's Mom asked us to fill up a couple of bags for her. Raine picked only 3 or 4 and he got bored... Daniel and I did the rest! We got 2 bagfuls of pine cones!

家の前に大きなもみの木があって、今日は松ぼっくり拾いのお手伝いをした！はりきっていたレインなのに、いざ拾い始めたら3, 4つだけで終わってしまった。結局残りはダニエルと私でやって2つも大きな袋にいっぱいになるまで拾った！

We got a treat for working hard! Raine got one too! I don't get it...

Baby Ducklings

We saw 6 ducklings at the neighbor's garage! I guess they just found these guys too. They used to see an adult duck around their house. They didn't even know that it was a female duck and she was pregnant! This morning they heard some noise coming from the garage and found these guys!

近所の人が「おいで、おいで見てごらん！」と何を見れてくれるのかと思ったら、ナント6匹の赤ちゃんダック！話しを聞くと、いつも大人のダックが家の周りをうろうろしていたのは知っていたらしい。でもまさか妊娠してたとは想像もしてなくて、今朝なんかガレージから聞こえると思って行ったら赤ちゃん達を発見！こんな近くで赤ちゃんダックは初めて！かわいい〜。でもお母さんどこいっちゃった？

Trip to Regina!

We are going back to Regina! This will be the last trip for us since Daniel's parents are moving to Oakville this fall! I never thought I would say this...

今回でリジャイナに帰るが最後、泣！ダニエルの親がオークビル（トロントから車で30分くらいのとこかな）に家を買ったので10月頃にはお引っ越し！引っ越してくるのは楽しみだけど、もうリジャイナに帰れないと思うと涙、涙、涙！ど田舎で夏はバッタの大発生するし、冬は-50度と理解のできない気温になる。そんなでもやっぱり11年間のいろいろな思い出があって、今回が最後と思うとスゴくかなし〜。

We slept in today! After we checked out some of the families stayed at the resort and went swimming before heading back home!

昨日の夜はおそかったので、今日はみんなお寝坊でした！ぎりぎりチェックアウトの時間には間に合いセーフ。トロントに戻る前に数人の家族とプールに行くことに！

Nottawasaga Summer Tournament Part 4

Since we lost all 3 games we now know that the kids are not playing tomorrow! That means it's time for the parents to have fun!!! YEAH!!!!!

Our assistant coach, Scott used to own a golf shop(he played professionally in the States too!) so he knows everything about golf! Pretty impressive!!! Daniel and Rob went to the driving range to get some lessons from him!

試合3つとも負けてしまったので、明日の決勝戦には我がチームは出ないことに決定！と言うことは、明日はゆっくりチェックアウトしてトロントに戻るだけで特に計画はなし！子供達はみんな一緒に遊んでいるし、やった〜、子供達から離れて今夜は大人の自由時間だ！

After the driving range, Daniel and Rob decided to go to the arcade for a ping pong tournament! "Rob, you better watch out! My husband will kick your butt!!!"

ゴルフの後はどこに行くのかと思いきや、子供達のいるゲームセンター！ここで何を？？卓球大会だってさ！ダニエルちょーーー上手なのにRobいいのかな〜。

Wait!!! Rob is actually pretty good too! Looking at 2 sweaty middle aged men playing ping pong was kind of entertaining for me!

Robのボロ負け？！と思いきや、Robもスゴいうまい！汗だらだらのおじさん2人が卓球やっているのはちょっと見てて面白かったかも！

Nottawasaga Summer Tournament Part 3

We had 2 games today. We lost the first game 2-1 and the second game 3-1. Both were nail-biting games! I really wanted them to win even just one game.

In the first game today, Raine scored a goal and got MVP! When we heard the announcement "Scored by number 6 Raine Akiyama-Chen" Raine was so happy but was even happier that the score keeper was able to pronounce his LONG last name!

今日は10時と15時に2つ試合があった。両試合とも負けてしまったが、どっちも良い試合でコーチも親もみんな満足な結果！

今日最初の試合ではレインが初ゴールをきめ、MVPにもかがやいた！ゴールをきめた時にスコアキーパーが「ナンバー6、Raine Akiyama-Chen」とアナウンスをしてレインは大喜び！後で聞いたら、何が嬉しかったって、きちんとラストネーム発音できたことに感動してたみたい、笑！MVPで何をもらったかと思ったらホッケー用靴下（？）。おもしろすぎる〜。さすがに靴下がプライズとは想像してなかったぁ。トロフィー作るお金なかったのかな...

Nottawasaga Summer Tournament Part 2

We had our first game and we lost 3-2... It was very close and was hard to watch because we got scored in the last 11 seconds. Coach Frank was still happy though because everyone played hard!

We went back to the hotel and had dinner with the team. By that time the kids forgot about the game and they were talking about partying all night without the parents!

トーナメントの最初の試合があった。なんと最後11秒で相手にゴールを決められ負けてしまった！悔しい〜、泣！でもコーチは、試合後みんながんばった！と負けたけど喜んでいた。

悔しい気持ちのままで、ホテルに戻りそのままチームのみんなで夕食。食べ物のパワーはスゴいと言うか、食べ始めたら試合のことはあっという間に忘れて、今夜オールナイトのパーティーの計画だってさ（もちろん親抜きで！）！子供ってこんなもんだ〜！

Didn't you guys sign the form that said "NO MINI STICK HOCKEY!"?? I guess this is how they want to party all night. I guarantee that they will get caught by the security soon or later. Good luck.

ホテルにチェックインした時、「ミニスティックホッケーは禁止！」というフォームにサインしなかったっけ？しかも、これがオールナイトパーティーだってさー。ホテルの人に見つかって怒られるのは時間の問題だな。

Nottawasaga Summer Tournament Part 1

We left for a hockey tournament in Alliston today! It was supposed to take about 45 minutes but the traffic was VERY heavy and we spent about 2 hours in the car...

This is our first away tournament and we are pretty excited about it! We don't know what to expect!

我が家にとって、初のアウェイトーナメント！車で45分ほどのAllistonという街が目的地！もちろん渋滞を計算して家を出たが、2時間車の中はさすがに辛かった〜。って別にマミーが運転したんじゃないけどね！

What a crazy weekend! This is where we live! Remember, we spent 1.7 billion tax dollars for this! You tell me if it's worth it. One cool thing though...we saw the French leader leaving!!!

ホントすごい週末だった！ダウンタウントロントがまるで映画の世界のよう！今回のG20サミットに1.7 billionを使ったらしい。我が家の住んでいるとこも影響を受けていたので、レインは2日間学校に行かなかった。こんなサミットにこれだけのお金かけた写真みたいになるわけだ。ただ一つ、今日夕方にフランスの大統領が空港に向かうのを見た！

IceDogs Bowling Event

Raine's hockey team had a bowling fundraising event! We took Raine's good friend, Zachary and we had fun together!

It's been so long since I bowled last. I wasn't sure how I would do in front of the kids but it turned out that I still got it! We played 3 games and I played WELL! We even won a hat for the 50/50 draw(I never win anything!)! What a day!



レインのチームがボーリングのファンドレイジングイベントをやり、学校の友達、ザックを誘って行ってきた。

長い間ボーリングなんてやっていなかったので（wiiのは得意だが！）どんなもんかと。でもやっぱり子供たちの前で恥はかきたくないな〜と思いながら始まった。全部で3ゲームしてどれも余裕100点は越えた！自分でも「私ボーリング上手かも！」とちょっと調子こいてしまった！しかも、普段くじ引きとか当たることが全くないのに、今回はへぼい帽子だったけど当たってしまった！なんていい日だったんだろう〜！

帰る時にザックにボーリングどうだった？って聞かれたら「レインのママは上手だった〜」と答えるんだよ、とね。（笑）

Reflections 2010

Raine's school had a BIG concert tonight.

At 7:30pm it began. Daniel and I looked at the program... HOLY COW!!!!! Believe it or not, there were over 40 performances! We had only one intermission at 9:30pm and the concert ended at 11:30pm!!! It was a 4 hour concert!!!

When I picked Raine up from his classroom after the concert he was so thirsty and starving! Poor Raine, I thought it would be 2 hours so I didn't pack a snack or anything.

The thing is that there is another concert tomorrow. Do you think Raine would know if we weren't there...?

レインの学校でコンサートがあった。12月の時は2時間くらいのコンサートだったのでその感覚で簡単に夕食を食べて準備し学校に戻った。

7時半に幕開け！素晴らしい音楽やダンスのパフォーマンスが次から次へと。ダニエルと私で「レインはいつだろうね〜」とプログラムを見ていたら、なんとプログラムが3ページにわたって書いてるではないか！これはいったいいつ終わるんだ...

ながーーーーい前半が終わり、インターミッションが9時半に1度。後半が始まりコンサートが終了したのがナント11時半！4時間のコンサートだった！

終わった後にレインを迎えにクラスに行ったら、「マミ〜、お腹すいた〜。ノドかわいた〜。（泣）」とかわいそうな息子。

家に戻ったのも夜中の12時すぎ。でもちょっとまった！明日2日目のコンサートがあるんだった。はぁ〜（涙）。明日私たち会場から消えてもレインにバレないかな...

Roller Hockey

Raine's hockey coach from 2 years ago invited us to play roller hockey at 9 o'clock Sunday morning. It's a weekly thing and I don't know if we can get up this early every Sunday.

レインの昔のコーチが毎週日曜日、朝9時からロラーホッケーをやることにしたらしく、そのお誘い電話があった。日曜朝9時か〜、泣。せっかくゆっくり起きられるのに...と。でもレインはかなりはりきっているよう！

Mayfest

Raine's friend, Brendan invited us to Mayfest at his school! It was SO hot and I don't even know how many popsicles Raine had...at least 5(TOO MUCH SUGAR!)!!! We had a blast! There were some games that I wanted to try too but they were all for the kids. Sucks...

レインのホッケー友達が「Mayfest」という毎年恒例の学校のイベントに誘ってくれた。最高のお天気だったが、外に3時間はさすが暑かった、汗。レインなんて、暑すぎてアイスクリーム5コ（？）くらい食べてた（こんなにお砂糖とって夜眠れるのかどうか...）!いろんなゲームがあり、予想以上に楽しめた！ただ、大人がゲームに参加できかったのがくやし〜。

Track Meet

Raine had his track meet today and guess what his event was? ...1500M!!! Raine has never been trained for it. You can't just say one day that you want to do it and run without any practice. This is something that kids need to be trained for. I don't know if I should say he is brave or not...

レインは今日陸上競技大会があり急遽応援に行くことにした！何の競技をやるかと思いきやなんと、1500メートル！！！毎年リレーとかはやっていたけど、長距離なんて、「やる〜！」って言って練習を1, 2回してやれるものではないっ！ガリガリ君レインがこんなとこ4周も走れるのだろうか...

Raine came 8th! When he came back he said to me right away that he would NEVER do this again next year and this was the hardest thing ever in his life!!! Poor Raine...

レインは12人中8位となった！レイン言わく今まで生きてきた中で一番辛い思いをしたらしい（ってまだ10年しか生きてないのに...）！来年はリレーか100mがいいって！そりゃそうだ、長距離とかは日頃のトレーニングが必要！そんな簡単な事ではないはず。

Gr. 4 Art Show

Raine's school had an art show! Everyone has worked so hard since last September and they finally finished 2 pieces for the show! I was AMAZED how talented everyone was!!! It was funny that there were some kids in the uniform walking around and serving us some finger foods! They even had some sushi!!!

待ちに待った4年生の「アートショー」があり行ってきた！去年の9月からずっーーーーと描いてきた2つの絵。やっとこのアートショーで見せることができた。どの作品もとても小学4年生とは思えないでき（少なくとも私よりみんな上手い、涙！）！面白かったのが、チビッコ（学校の生徒）が制服をきて歩き回っては飲み物、食べ物をお父さんお母さんに「いかがですか？」って、ウエーターになっていたこと！そんなたいした物では、、、と思って近づくとなんとオリーブ、モッツァレラチーズ、生ハムプシュートがくしに刺さったのやお寿司！なんかリッチな気分でのアートショーとだった！

週に何回チョコレートを食べたいか考えて、その数字を思い浮かべる（必ず1回以上10回未満）。

2. Multiply this number by 2
その数字にx2をする。

3. Add 5
その答えに+5をする。

4. Multiply it by 50
それに再度x50。

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1760... If you haven't, add 1759...
今年の自分の誕生日がすでに過ぎている人は+1760、誕生日がまだの人は+1759をする。

6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
でた数字から自分の生まれた年をマイナスする。
