Walk to DQ!

We had our last dinner together...we are leaving tomorrow. Time goes by when you are having fun! What a relaxing vacation it was! Raine wanted everyone to bike/walk to DQ for some treat!

明日トロントに帰るので今日が最後のディナー。楽しい時は時間が過ぎるのが早い、あっという間のバケーションでした！デザートとしてDQのアイスクリームを食べに行こうというレインの提案！みんなでお散歩がてらで行ってきた。

夏と言えばやっぱりバーベキュー！グリルをするのはいつもダニエルのお父さんの仕事！今日はポークチョップ、エビ、コーン、畑で取れたズッキーニ！

My New Bike!

As you all know, I got my bike stolen a couple of months ago(still SAD!). Daniel's mom felt so bad and she actually let me take her vintage bike(Raleigh) to Toronto!

There was only one problem though...the bike was way too big for us to fly back with. We tried to take off some parts and box it but it was still too big! Daniel spent all day doing this but we ended up shipping by FedEx!

みんなも知っていると思うが、数ヶ月前に愛用の折りたたみ式自転車が盗まれた。今だにその話しになると悲しくなってしまう。ダニエルのお母さんもその気持ちが伝わったのかお母さんのヴィンテージ自転車をトロントに持って行っていいよと言ってくれた！

そう言ってくれたはいいが、問題はこの大きな自転車をどう持って行くか...飛行機に乗せるには最大のサイズが決まっていて、ダニエルが1日かけてタイヤ、かご、ペダルなどをとって小さくパッキングできるようにしてくれた。でも残念なことにそれでもサイズがオーバー。結局FedExに電話してそれで送る事にした。

Visiting Ella and Isaac!

It's been a year since we visited Akiko, Aaron, Ella and Isaac! The kids have grown so much and now they are expecting their third baby!

After dinner we went for a walk! It was unbelievable how many mosquitoes were out there to bite us(I should say ME!)! Yikes!

レインがEllaとIsaacと最後に会ってから丁度1年が経つ。子供は成長するのが早い、かなり大きくなっていたのに驚いた（なぜか自分の子以外みんな成長してるように感じるのは気のせい？）！しかも3人目があと数ヶ月で生まれる予定！

ディナーの後に近くの橋のある公園へお散歩。蚊がとにかくたくさんいてでも蚊に刺されるのはいつも私だけ...

Ping Pong Tournament!

Raine and I played ping pong in the basement for the first time ever(the table has been there forever but we never tried it till now!)!!! Both of us got hooked big time! I know Daniel grew up with this table but I was AMAZED how good he was! And I was amazed EVEN MORE how good Grandpa was!!!

Today we decided to do a tournament. The finalists were Daniel and Raine(believe or not!)! Daniel ended up winning but of course we all know how competitive Raine is so he did not like that! I think Raine is going to ask for a rematch...

リジャイナにここ10年毎年帰っていながら地下に卓球のテーブルがある事に今さら気づくマミーとレイン。二人とも生まれて初めての卓球、かなりハマってしまった。ダニエルは小さい時から弟と遊んでいたらしく半端なく上手い！でももっと驚いたのはダニエルのお父さん！70才近いのにあのスマッシュ！とにかく驚かされた！！

毎日遊んでいる卓球、どうせならトーナメントでもしよう、と！結局決勝戦に残ったのはダニエルとレイン。近い試合だったがダニエルの勝利で終わってしまった。負けた事にかなり悔しがっているレインは再試合を申し出るのでは...

Kohlrabi

This is Raine's favorite veggie, Kohlrabi(me too!)! I guess the weather this summer has been bad in Regina too so we got only a few so far.

This is Grandpa teaching Raine how to pick and clean it from their garden!

これはレインの大好物な野菜、コールラビ！毎年種をまいて我が家が行く頃には丁度いい感じで大きくなっている。でも残念な事に今年は寒い夏らしく食べごろなのが2, 3個しかなさそう、悲。まーこれから2週間くらいいるのでその間にお天気よくなってくれたらもう2, 3個はとれそうだね。

Salon Daniel

Raine doesn't like getting a haircut... Actually he has never been to a salon ever since he was born! He always gets his haircut from his Daddy(I don't trust him with my hair but he is pretty good. He cuts his own hair too!)! This time "Salon Daniel" is in the basement where it's dark and cold...

2ヶ月に1回くらいかな、レインが髪の毛切るのは。毎回ブーブー文句を言いながら床屋さん。実は今までに1度もサロン／床屋さんに行った事がなく、いつもダニエルに切ってもらっている。ダニエルは自分の髪も自分で切ってるほどなかなか上手（でも私の髪は絶対切らせない！）。今回「サロンダニエル←フランス語っぽく読む事！」は薄暗くでさむーい地下にトロントから一時移動...

We are in Regina!

We had to say goodbye to jiji yesterday and now it's time for us to take our vacation! It's always nice to be back in Regina(in summer!)! Lots to do! Every summer we pick some apples in the back yard. I guess Raine is old enough and tall enough to do the job this year!

じじが昨日日本に帰ってしまった、悲。でも今日から我が家はダニエルの実家リジャイナへ！冬はすごく寒いが夏のリジャイナは最高！レインにしてみるとまさしく「田舎のおばあちゃん家」という感じ。バーベキュー、自転車、畑仕事ととにかくリラックスできる！毎年夏に来ると必ず裏庭のりんごの木から新鮮なりんごをとっては食べるのが定番。よく見ると今年は大きくなったレインの仕事の様！

Lunch @ The Brazen Head

Raine's hockey tournament, Canlan King of the Ring Tournament kicked off from Friday. There will be at least 5 games in 3 days! We had our first game today and found out that we had some time to kill before the next game so we decided to go for a quick lunch at the Brazen Head. We had some nachos, salad and chicken pot pie! Mmm, it was a good lunch!

3日間のホッケートーナメントが昨日から始まった！最低でも5試合はあるらしく、日曜日まで毎日ホッケー三昧！今日の1試合目が終わり、次のゲームまで少し時間があったのでアイリッシュパブにランチをしに行く事にした！ナチョス、サラダ、チキンのパイとあ〜美味しかった！じじはここでもビールを一杯！バケーションって良いね、朝でもお昼でもいつでもビール飲めるからさっ！

Trip to Montreal!

I went to Montreal for 2 nights! It's been a while since I went last time. Luckily the weather was nice and I really enjoyed the stay!

モントリオールに2泊3日で行ってきた。トロントに引っ越して来たばかりの時は写真の仕事で年に何回かは行っていたが、ここ長い間行ってなかったので今回かなり久しぶり！天気にも恵まれ大満足！

Hockey Grandpa!

Jiji saw hockey for the first time in his life! I think he is hooked now! Even though you don't know much about it it is exciting to watch! He was amazed how fast and well the little kids could skate and play! He is so pround of his grandson now!!!

じじは今まで一度も生のホッケーを見た事がなかった！今回遊びに来て運良く試合と週末に3日間のトーナメントがあることになった。ホッケーはルールを知らない人でも誰でも楽しめるスポーツだと思うので、じじもかなり楽しめたのでは。8, 9才の子供達がこんなに上手にプレイできるとは想像してなかったんだと思う！

Grandpa came to Toronto!

We all went to the airport to pick up Grandpa from Japan! Raine was SO anxious to see him! We skype once a week but it's been one year since we saw him last! "Where is JIJI??" Raine asked me a million times...

ジジが日本から遊びにきたのでみんなで空港にお迎え！週に1度はスカイプをしてもやっぱり実際会うとなると嬉しいね！丁度1年前にカルガリーで会った以来か〜。レインは「ジジどこ？？」の連発！

Raine and I biked to Cherry Beach today since the weather was nice(the weather in Toronto has been crappy this summer!)!

今年のトロントの夏は寒い！ここ最近ずっーと天気が悪くて（毎日スコールの様に雨が降る！）でも今日は久しぶりにお日様が出たので、レインと二人でCherry Beachへサイクリングに行って来た！

My addiction...

People today are so into gadgets such as Xbox 360, PS3, iPhone,... Everything is around us and everybody has an easy life(Daniel always calls me "GRANDMA" every time when I say that!).

While people are addicted to the latest games and so on I'm addicted to...UNO!!! I got it from my friend and since then I've been playing with Raine every day! I'm actually trying to get Daniel join too but he doesn't really get why I get so excited about this game in 2009.

今の人はみんなガジェットフリークである。大人だけではなく子供も最新の携帯に最新のゲームなど全て簡単に手に入れることができる時代。特に今の子供は何でも与えられ、それが当たり前になってるので感謝の気持ちが少しもない。←でもこれ私が小さいときに自分の父親によく言われていたような...

そんな今の時代、我が家（マイナスダニエル）ではやっているのが「UNO」！なぜ今になって？？と思われるが、こんなに楽しいカードゲームだった事をすっかり忘れていた。友達からもらいそれ以来レインとUNOして遊んでる毎日（レインはマミーの相手してくれる良い子！）。ダニエル言わく、毎日楽しそ〜にUNOやれる自分の奥さんが理解できないんだって。

"Very disturbing!!!"

I LOVE horror movies and I can say I've watched lots of them and nothing ever frightened me...until I saw this one. I shouldn't say it was scary, it was by far the most disturbing movie I've every seen. If you are a huge horror movie fan like me(or I should say if you are a weirdo like me!) you should check it out. It's based on a true story and that makes it even better.

ホラー映画大好き！そして今までに数々のホラーをみてきた私だが、そこまで怖〜いと思った映画が一つもなかった！と言うのがこの「Emily Rose」をみる前の私の意見。期待ゼロで何となく借りてみよう...と思い手を伸ばしただけだった。結果、実話をもとにしたらしく、かなり迫力のある映画だった（今までで一番とでも言ってもいいかも！）。主演女優の演技が半端なく上手で、映画をみていると彼女に起こった事がスゴく伝わってくる。ホラー映画又はサスペンス映画の大ファンな人にはかなりおすすめ！

Canlan Youth Classic "AA" Champions

Raine's team had their first tournament over the weekend! Each and every one worked so hard and earned the championship!!!

I've heard from other people about some "hockey parents" and I think Daniel and I experienced THAT during the final game. Apparently the team we beat never lost so the parents weren't happy with the fact that we were beating them. As the game got more intense some parents started cursing and booing our kids. I thought "It's just kids hockey and they are only 8 or 9 years old...".

The season hasn't even started yet(it's summer hockey and supposed to be all about fun!) . I can't imagine when September comes and those parents get even crazier!

レインの新しいチームで初のトーナメントがあり行ってきた。みんな今までに見た事がないくらいがんばってナント優勝してしまった！

友達や他の親からこっちでよく言われる「ホッケーママとパパ」の恐ろしい話しを聞いていたが、トーナメントの決勝戦で初めてそれを自分の目で見てしまった。というのも、相手チームは今までにほとんど負けた事がないらしく、相手の親がうちのチームの親にヤジを飛ばしてきては口喧嘩、うちのチームの子（8, 9才）をブーイングしたりととにかく大人げない！

夏のホッケーで既にこんなになっていて、9月のシーズンが始まった時はいったいどうなるんだろう...

Dog Show @ Harbourfront

Raine and I went to the grocery store and on the way home we found out that there was a dog show at Harbourfront. My favourite dog was this Boston Terrier in a pink tutu! Raine LOVES dogs and he's been asking about getting one(I always say NO to that!!! I grew up with 2 dogs and I know in fact it's a lot of work!). I believe Raine patted every single dog there!

レインとお買い物に行った帰りにハーバーフロントで「ドックショー」をやっている事に気づいた！いろいろな犬がいたが私のお気に入りはバレリーナーのボストンテリア！犬が大好きなレインはここずっと犬がほしい〜ほしい〜と言っていたのでまさに天国にいるよう（思うと東京ディズニーランドに連れて行った時より喜んでた、なんて安上がりな子だろう...）！家に帰る前にそこにいた犬ぜ〜んぶ触ったらしい。

Today was the last day of school, which means the last day for Raine to take the ferry to go to school. He's been going to school on the island since he was 4. He has tons of good memories with his friends and teachers! Raine gave lots of hugs and said goodbye to everyone at school!

レインが5年間通った学校とも今日でお別れ。真冬でもフェリーで元気に通いたくさんいいお友達にも出会い、楽しい思いでがいっぱいのそんな学校とも今日が最後。学校を出る前に友達と先生みんなに大きな「Hug」をし、さよならをしてきたらしい。ちょっと寂しいね。

Arts Night

Raine's school had their annual event "Arts Night". Unfortunately we weren't able to go this year because Raine had his hockey practice. This cool underwater scene was created by Raine's class and apparently it was raffled off!

FYI, Raine created the electric jellyfish!

レインの学校で毎年恒例の「Arts Night」が行われた。毎年行っていたが、今年はホッケーの練習があり行けなかった、残念...

レインのクラスは海のシーンの作品をみんなで創ってそれを抽選で当たった人にあげたらしい。

ちなみに、レインの作品は一番上の真ん中にある電気クラゲ！

Stories by Raine

School is almost over(which means summer is here!)! Raine has been coming home with all the work he's done since the beginning of school year. I would like to share some of the stories that he did. I think it's pretty funny!

もうすぐ学校が終わり夏休み！ここ最近毎日のようにこの1年間でやったレインのアート作品、学校で書いた詩、算数の問題集などを持って帰ってきた。レインはストーリーを考えそれに絵を描くまぁ「絵本」と言ったらいいのか、そういう事が大好きで今までに数々の話（長いものもあれ、短いものもあれ）を書いてきた。今年書いたのでなかなか面白いと思った作品を紹介します！

At Tim Hortons I bought a delicious toasted blueberry bagel.

LuminaTO-Toronto Festival of Arts + Creativity

We went to check out Luminato over the weekend! This year we had many events with "Cirque du Soleil" at the waterfront and they were free(you can't get any better than that!)!! The crowd was so big that it was hard to see but it was pretty cool!

今週末に毎年恒例の「Luminato」に行ってきた。今年はなぜかいつもより人が多いな〜と思っているとなんと、「シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユ」のショーが無料であったから（？）。どのショーも人ごみの中をかきわけて見たがなかなかよかった！

End of Year Recital

Raine's music school, Toronto School for Strings had their annual recital today! Raine dressed himself in a nice shirt and tie(he had to wear his sneakers though because his black shoes were too small for him!).

レインの行っている音楽学校でリサイタルがあり行ってきた！こういう時にしかドレスアップをする機会がないので、レインはワイシャツにネクタイをしビシットきめるつもりだったが、黒い革靴が小さくなっていたことに気づかずスニーカーを履くことになってしまった、悲。

My bike...

"WHERE THE HELL IS MY BIKE..."

I said that to myself a hundred times when I went back to where I thought I locked it a couple of hours ago! I was walking back and forth(basically going crazy!) and finally figured out that my bike got stolen!!!!!!!!!! I was very upset because I LOVED my bike and it was my baby! I found the little velcro that was attached to my bike lock lying on the ground! I picked it up and took it back home with me. That was the only thing left from my bike...

最近天気が良かったのでどこに行くにも愛用の自転車を乗っていた。それは3年前に買った折りたたみ式自転車。今日もいつもの様に自転車に乗り、ロックをして数時間後に戻ってきた。そうすると「あれ？！自転車どこだ...」と思い自転車とめたはずの周辺を行ったり来たりウロウロ。どこをどう探しても見つからない！「もしかして、盗まれた！」と気がついたのが数分たってからだったか。えーーーーーーーー！！！！！ととにかくショック。しかも地面に残されたのがロックにくっついてた小さなベルクロの部分。悔しいのでそれだけは拾って持って帰ってきた。私の自転車返せー！
